"Same Walk, Different Shoes" is a collaborative project created by Ben Wakeman. A group of writers anonymously contributed prompts based on an experience that changed their life, then each participating writer creates a story inspired by the prompt assigned to them. You can find all the stories from the participating writers at Catch & Release. Enjoy the walk with us.
Very moving portrait of longing for identity, including the deep knowledge that it’s more than DNA. Wonderful rhythm, within the paragraphs and overall - like a prose poem.
Ooof. The juxtaposition of the last two lines is really good. Their sparseness matches the rest of the piece and captures well that exact phenomenon--everything and nothing changing at once. Well done, Laurie.
Completed with craft and heart.
Such at heartbreaking experience, beautifully told.
Thanks, Troy. 🙏🏻

Thank you, Julie. 🙂
I really great choice of structure, here. Very effective. A perfect example of less is more.
Thanks Eleanor. 🙂
Thanks so much Holly. 🙂
